Structure of the Pylons
Rather than serving as mere organizational administrative divisions, the Pylons delineate specific domains of study, practical application, and internal mastery:
Initiatory Hierarchy: The Pylons align with the degrees of the Temple of Set (from Setian to Magus), representing escalating levels of self-awareness and mastery over both the objective universe (the physical world) and the subjective universe (the personal mind).
The Concept of Xeper: The core goal within this framework is Xeper (an ancient Egyptian verb meaning “to come into being” or “self-creation”). Passing through a Pylon signifies a permanent, qualitative shift in individual consciousness.
Specialized Orders: Advanced Pylons often house distinct “Orders” focused on specific traditions or methodologies, such as the Order of the Trapezoid (working with magical technology and shape dynamics) or the Order of the Vampyre (working with vitality and psychological dynamics).
Working the Gates: Progressing through a Pylon requires a balance of rigorous intellectual study, practical magic (Black Magic in Setian terminology, defined as causing change in accordance with the individual Will), and active self-evolution rather than passive belief.
